Guided setup is Plannie helping your family get started: you answer a few questions, and Plannie suggests habits, rewards, lists and folders that fit your family. You review it all, then add it in one go.

Where to find it

The first time the person who created the family opens the Calendar tab, the getting-started guide opens with Want help setting up Plannie? Tap Set it up with me to start, or Skip and continue to go straight to the rest of the guide. When setup is done, the guide carries on where it left off.

You can run it again any time from Settings → General → Family setup. If you leave halfway, for example because the app closed, the getting-started guide offers it again. Starting it again, from the guide or from Settings, asks Welcome back!: pick up where you left off or start from the beginning.

If you don't see it, update the app to the latest version.

The steps

Every step has a More info button, and you can skip any step.

  1. What do you want help with? Pick Habits, Rewards, Lists, Files, or Everything. Calendar has no step of its own: the getting-started guide shows you how to fill it, and each person's calendars are connected in Family & access.
  2. Is everyone here? Check the family, add anyone missing, and for each person pick Adult, Kid or Birthday, and add a nickname. With Birthday, tap Pick a birthday and choose the year, the month and then the day; ages decide what Plannie suggests, so a six-year-old and a teenager get different ideas, and Plannie works out the age itself, so it stays right as kids grow. Rather not add a birthday? Pick Adult or Kid. Nicknames are saved on the member, so Plannie Assistant, Siri and forwarded emails understand them too.
  3. What do you want to achieve? Write your goals the way you'd say them, using names, nicknames or just "the kids", or tap a ready-made idea. Tap Suggest habits.
  4. A start for each of you. Plannie suggests habits and chores for each person. Tap a card to leave it out, tap how often to change it (every day, weekdays, or one to three times a week), and use − and + to set how many stars it earns. Want something different? Write it in the box and tap Suggest again.
  5. What are they saving for? Say what each person is saving for, how long it should take, and anything that comes back every week, like an allowance. Only people who earn stars get rewards.
  6. Rewards that add up. Rewards are priced from what each person earns in a week, and each shows about how long it takes to earn. Switch off anything you don't want, rename a reward, or make it cheaper or more expensive. When it fits, Plannie also suggests a family goal everyone works toward together.
  7. Want more lists? Groceries and Todo are already there. Pick any extra lists, and each starts with a few items.
  8. Which folders do you want? Pick the folders to create in Files.
  9. Ready to add all this? Check the summary, tap Edit to go back to a step, then tap Add everything. Nothing is added before this point.

If your family earns tickets instead of stars, the steps say "tickets". See Rewards & family goals.

Everything guided setup adds carries a small sparkle, the Set up by Plannie mark, so you can tell where it came from. Change or delete any of it later like anything else.

Running it again

Run guided setup again from Settings → General → Family setup. If you already have habits or rewards, you choose what happens to them:

  • Keep and add more: new ideas skip what you already have, and the stars are balanced with it.
  • Go through them together: your current habits and rewards show up next to the new ideas, and you keep or remove each one.
  • Remove and start over: removes what an earlier guided setup added. Things you made yourself stay, and stars already earned stay with each person.

Lists and Files are never removed.

There's a daily limit on how many suggestions you can ask for. If you reach it, try again the next day.

Plans

Your first guided setup is free on every plan. Habits and rewards start working with Plannie Premium. Lists and Files are free with limits, such as 10 items per list on the free plan. Running guided setup again needs Plannie Premium.

Privacy

When you ask for suggestions, what you wrote, together with each family member's name, nickname and age, is sent to our AI provider so it can suggest habits and rewards. We don't store the text: only the habits, rewards and lists you choose to add are saved. See our privacy policy for details.
