BIG UPDATE! New view Files, calendar improvements & bug fixes

The short version; New Files view, lot of bug fixes to the calendar, Google Calendar integration, easier to reach the Plannie support team, and preparations in place for our upcoming integrations with AI tools.

Every family has a paper pile: permission slips, the insurance letter, the vaccination card someone needs at the clinic, the booking confirmation for the cabin. Most of it ends up in a kitchen drawer or a photo roll, and it's never there on the day you need it. With this update, Plannie has a place for all of it, called Files.

The new Files tab on the web, with family folders, latest uploads and starred files

Files

Files has its own tab next to Calendar, Lists and Meals. Make folders for school, the house, travel or receipts, and folders inside those, so each child can have a corner of the School folder. Star the papers you reach for often and they stay at the top for the whole family.

A family folder is shared with everyone in the household. A private folder is yours alone, and nobody else in the family sees what's inside. That's the place for your own medical letters, or for planning a surprise.

To get a paper in, tap + and choose Scan document. Your phone finds the edges, straightens the page and cleans it up, and a scan of several pages comes out as one PDF you can drop into a folder.

Files also collects what you already have. Share a PDF or photo to Plannie from another app and it lands in Files. Attachments on calendar events show up here too, as does anything you send through Magic Import, the Family Inbox or the Assistant. New arrivals wait in Latest uploads until you move them into a folder.

PDFs open right inside Plannie, and you can send a file to a teacher or the grandparents without leaving the app. You can search by file name. On Premium, Plannie also reads what's in your documents, so searching for "museum" finds the permission slip.

A folder in Files, with subfolders for each child and the documents inside

On the web you can drop files onto the page to upload them, or drag a file onto a folder to move it.

On Premium, Files also puts the paper you'll need next in the spotlight. The permission slip comes up the week of the museum trip, and the boarding passes a few days before you fly.

Free families get 50 MB for Files to start with. Plannie Premium includes 5 GB, and Premium + MCP 10 GB. Anything you delete stays in Recently deleted for 30 days in case you change your mind.

Scan straight into Magic Import

Magic Import now has a Scan document button next to Take photo and Choose photo. Scan the school newsletter or the football schedule, and Plannie turns the dates into events the same way it reads a photo.

A clearer menu, and an easier way to reach us

On a computer or a tablet, the bottom bar now ends in a More button. Settings, Screensaver, What's new and Help & Feedback live there, which leaves the bar for the places you use every day.

On phones, Help & Feedback is in the More menu too. It used to sit deep inside Settings, which was the wrong place for it. We want to hear from you, whether it's a bug you hit or an idea you have. Tap More, then Help & Feedback, and your message comes straight to us.

A calendar you can count on

A family wrote in about their date night. It was set to repeat every 4 weeks on Saturday, but it kept turning up on other days, and when they fixed it and saved, it disappeared. We found the causes, and went through the rest of calendar sync while we were at it.

Repeating events now keep their day and time. Every 4 weeks on Saturday means Saturday wherever you live, and a 7 pm event is still at 7 pm after the clocks change. If you edit one occurrence and apply the change to all of them, the whole series moves along with it instead of vanishing.

Monthly repeats have more options. Pick Months under Repeat and you can choose "On day 10", "On the second Saturday" or "On the last Saturday", depending on the event's date. Google Calendar and Outlook get the same rule, so the second Saturday stays the second Saturday there too. "Repeats until" now includes the day you pick.

Some repeating meetings from Google Calendar came into Plannie as a single event that jumped between dates. Accepting the invite could make it look deleted, and cancelling one meeting could take out the whole series. Each meeting is now its own event, up to two years ahead. Plannie repairs affected calendars as they sync, so missing meetings come back by themselves, and the event you already had keeps its assignments and notes.

When the same invite is on two family members' calendars and one of them removes it, it stays on the other person's calendar. Replies are personal too: your yes or no only counts for you, and an invite you decline only disappears for you. The family screen keeps showing everyone's events, whatever anyone replied.

Sometimes Google or Microsoft stops sharing a calendar with Plannie until you sign in again. When that happens, a small warning triangle now points the way: More, then Settings, then Family & access, then the person whose calendar needs attention. Tap Reconnect and sign in, and it syncs again. If some of your Google meetings are still missing after this update, look for the triangle first.

Fixes

On iPhone, event details scroll again. When an event had attachments, RSVP buttons or a guest list, the bottom of the card could end up out of reach. The "Sync to calendar" list scrolls again too.

If a family member's calendar is set to show only "Busy", events you share with them no longer disappear for you. Everyone who is part of an event can read and edit it, and the rest of the family still sees only the busy block.

All-day events stay on their own day. A one-day event could stretch over two days when your phone was in a different time zone from your family's, for example on holiday.

Two quick swipes in a row could freeze the calendar. Moving between days, weeks and months works smoothly again.

Screen titles now use the same bold lettering as Files, the + button is mint green, and the whole app uses one typeface.

In dark mode, the logo at the top of our emails showed up as a white box. You can read it now.

Plus the usual round of speed improvements and small fixes.

Coming soon

Next, we're bringing Plannie into the AI assistants you already use, starting with Claude, Meta Muse and Dots. Ask your assistant what's on this week, or have it add the dentist appointment, and it goes straight into your family calendar. We'll share more soon.

Spot something odd, or have an idea? Tap More, then Help & Feedback. We read everything.
