Plannie now works offline!

Family life doesn't wait for good signal. The school run goes through a tunnel, and the holiday cabin has one bar if you stand by the window. Until now, no connection meant an empty screen and a spinner. With this update, Plannie keeps working.

Open it anywhere

Start Plannie with no signal and it opens straight away, with everything it had the last time you were online: the calendar, your lists, chores, tasks and the family. The calendar keeps this month and the months on either side of it.

Make changes offline

Add an event or move one, tick off a chore, put milk on the shopping list, check off a task. Plannie saves each change on your phone right away and sends it as soon as you're back online, so the rest of the family sees it a moment later.

Lists are stored on the device itself now. A long packing list opens in airplane mode.

Discover when you're offline

When you're offline, a small yellow triangle shows up in the header. Tap it to see what's going on. It replaces the "Reconnecting…" message that used to sit on the screen.

Some things only work with the internet: the Assistant, Magic Import, photos, calendar connections, invites and billing. While you're offline they're greyed out with a short "Needs a connection" note, instead of spinning forever.

On the web as well!

The web app works the same way. Whether you've added Plannie to your home screen or keep it open in a browser tab, it opens and reloads without a connection.

Also in this update

All-day events that last several days now show as one bar across the calendar, instead of a separate copy on each day.

Offline mode is part of Plannie 1.3.0 for iPhone and iPad, and it's already live on the web. If your phone hasn't updated on its own, you'll find 1.3.0 in the App Store.
